The Revolution will be Tweeted!
Despite some's claims of shallowness and time wasting, Twitter is having a huge impact in the spread of information regarding the protests and civil unrest in Iran. So much so that Twitter has rescheduled a maintenance window:

A critical network upgrade must be performed to ensure continued operation of Twitter. In coordination with Twitter, our network host had planned this upgrade for tonight. However, our network partners at NTT America recognize the role Twitter is currently playing as an important communication tool in Iran. For some incredible pictures of what's going on in Iran you can go here.

The Revolution Will Not be Televised, but, yes, it will be tweeted. I have no illusions that "democracy" is about to come to Iran, given the varying interests of the protesters, but I applaud Twitter, its maintenance contractor, and the people risking their lives in Iran for "freedom."
Ouch!! But hey, when you show me an American "twitterer" causing a revolution, I'll subscribe. Until then, I still contend that most American twitters are pointless (just like Facebook status involving food and exercise!)
