Not Your Father's Christianity
A movement has reached critical mass when my Dad hears about, so around the first of the year I got an email asking about Emergent thinking. We exchanged a few emails and then I directed him to Mike Wittmer's book "Don't Stop Believing - Why Living Like Jesus Is Not Enough".
With this book, Mike, a Professor at Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, MI, has provided a Biblical road-map through the Emergent Movement. Mike lays out the major themes in the movement and then examines them through the lens of Scripture offering, dare I say, a fair and balanced look at the Emergent Church.
An excerpt of the book can be found here. (Article begin on pg 8)
I've said this before in this blog, but Mike Wittmer has an amazing God-given gift for teaching and he has been able to translate that gift to his writing as well.
If you have any interest at all in the Emergent Church, Mike's book is a must read.
