Teaching Moments

As parents you are always on the look out for those moments when you can impart a lesson to your kids.  My wife thought she had that chance last night:
With the possibility of 4- 8 inches of snow overnight, our kids decided to add to the chances of a snow day tomorrow by doing a snow dance. It included running through the house yelling "Snow Day, Snow Day" as well as singing every Christmas song they could think of at the top of their lungs. Fortunately they only knew the words to two. They also decided to up the chances and wore their pajamas inside out as well as flushed ice cubes down the toilet.

After a few minutes I had to step in and use this time to "train them in spiritual things". I reminded them that God controls the weather and that no amount of ice cubes or dances or songs will change the weather and what will happen tomorrow. They all agreed and looked subdued. I was thrilled that they had gotten it and that I was able to help them learn a lesson...my joy was short lived as they proceeded to dance off to the bathroom with their tags showing on their pajamas and with their ice cubes in hand singing "snow day, snow day!"

The best part of this story....the kid's did indeed get a snow day!
