Teens say they don't but they do

Good news, Bad news.
A recent study shows that among religious teens, Evangelicals feel most strongly that sex should be saved for marriage.  That's the good news.  The bad news:
But, according to Add Health data, evangelical teen-agers are more
sexually active than Mormons, mainline Protestants, and Jews. On
average, white evangelical Protestants make their "sexual début"—to
use the festive term of social-science researchers—shortly after
turning sixteen. Among major religious groups, only black Protestants
begin having sex earlier.

Where's the disconnect here?  They know the teaching, profess belief, but don't live it.  Why?

Could it be because their parents believe that lying is a sin but lie, that cheating is a sin but fudge numbers, and that we must obey the law but speed?

I made some comments about this on our blog...thanks for bringing it to our attention.

I think your right and it's a good reminder that the behavior we model as Parents has a greater affect than what we say.  I believe that one of the reasons my sister and I did not become the stereo-typical rebellious PK's is because of the consistency between my Dad's words from the pulpit and his actions at home.  He walked the walk and talked the talk.  He was not perfect, but it was obvious that he was trying to model Christ.

Orwell should have expanded his "Big Brother" concept to include little sons and daughters, because THEY really are watching us.
