Entering Exodus

Our Pastors have begun a series on Exodus recently that has opened my eyes to a new perspective on the book.

One of the great Seinfeld episodes was "The Yada, Yada" episode, and thanks to Charlton Heston, even most non-Christians can "yada, yada, yada" the book of Exodus.  Baby in basket, burning bush, let my people go, yada, yada, yada.

What our Pastors have done though is to stop us and help us realize that there is a lot going on behind that yada, yada, yada.  I appreciate the way they have focused not on Moses, but on God.

Where is God in the midst of our struggles?  Where is God in the midst of our pain?
He's there working, but not seen. - Exodus 2

Who is God? How is God going to fulfill his promises?
God always was, always is and always will be. He has power over creation, power over death and power over our livelihood. God is always faithful. - Exodus 3

Why this? Why now?  This is not the way I wanted it!
God is a promise making God and a promise keeping God, but the way God fulfills His promisees is most times very different than the way we want or expect them to be fulfilled. - Exodus 4-6

I'm excited for the rest of the series and I thank God for the men he has called to GLBC.

Thanks for the words. It warms our hearts to know that people are "getting it." I pray that we have communicated in such a way that everyone is grasping it as you are.

I couldn't agree more, Jeff. I've never heard this perspective on Exodus, and it's been very...refreshing, helpful, and thought provoking. I'm thankful for the reminder that when life seems like it's all about mud bricks, God's still working!
