Roy Williams, Redux
Further info on my Roy "Judas" Williams post last week as some of you may not be fully up to speed.
Williams began his career with legendary coach Dean Smith at North Carolina, he then became the Kansas coach in 1989. In 2003, the NC job came open during the NCAA tournament. Speculation was that NC wanted Williams, but he denied interest. Kansas played in the championship game that year and lost. The clip you see is Williams being interviewed after the game about his interest. You can see his response. A week later he took the job at UNC, his agent had already been talking to UNC.
I had always admired Williams, thought he coached and taught with integrity. I was huge fan. Not so much anymore. I realize coaches move around and the UNC job was probably his dream job, but don't act so self righteous about it.
Needless to say I was ecstatic when Kansas clobbered UNC last week. Hence the post.
