Brian has a post up regarding "What Makes a Missional Church". Adding to that discussion is a post from Acts29 by Scott Thomas on "What is a Missional Church".
The stumbling block for me is the idea that the "mission" of the church is the same as the "mission" to the church. I'm not ready to concede that yet.

Now that we have the tests out of the way...
I want to get you to concede...so here we go. We both agree that the mission of GLBC is "making authentic followers of Jesus Christ." I think this is good an represents the mission of God (which may be better stated: making images of Christ). But the process of making authentic followers involves 1) faith in Christ and 2) growing to maturity so that we can image Christ. In other words, the mission is all encompassing. So missional should focus on both!
